Ralph Emmerson : ウィキペディア英語版 | Ralph Emmerson Ralph Emmerson (7 July 1913 – 31 December 2007) was Bishop of Knaresborough from 1972 to 1979. Born in Leeds, West Yorkshire on 7 July 1913 he was educated at Leeds Grammar School and King's College London.〔Who's Who 1992 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 0-7136-3514-2〕 He worked initially in the Youth Employment Department of Leeds Educational Authority〔"Debrett's People of Today": Ed Ellis,P (1992, London, Debtrett's) p 1621 ISBN 1-870520-09-2〕 before studying for ordination at Westcott House, Cambridge. An urban priest and keen cricketer (amongst many appointments he was Vicar of Headingley,〔(Emmerson Obituary )〕 in 1966 he was appointed ''Canon Missioner'' for the Diocese of Ripon.〔Crockfords,(London, Church House 1995) ISBN 0-7151-8088-6〕 In 1972 he was promoted again to be Suffragan Bishop of Knaresborough〔The Times, Thursday, 16 March 1972; p. 19; Issue 58428; col E New Bishop of Knaresborough is appointed〕 a post he held to his retirement in 1979.
